I am scheduled to have the enucleation of my left eye at OSU Hospital this Friday, August 31. I should be home sometime Saturday.

Just learned of your situation today. Great to see you are keeping your spirits up. Take care. Please know that your family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ted- it's good to hear of your ongoing progress. I looked up enucleation on google to see what the heck it was. Ooh, sounds painful, but hopefully it will actually relieve some pain, right? We miss you around here, I'm praying for a miraculous recovery.

Ted, after living with someone with a similar condition for several years, I have a few words of advice for your family:

1) Don't leave any head height cabinets open unattended.
2) Don't sneak up on his blind side - head on collisions don't feel good for anyone.
3) Yes, he can still drive.
4) A great gift to leave the hospital with is a pair of VERY DARK sunglasses. Oakley has worked well for us for years. They look cool and are easier to carry than balloons.

I'll be thinking about you this weekend.
